In 2020, H. Moser & Cie. was one of the first independent watch brands to launch an e-commerce and certified pre-owned trading platform.
Today, it is burnishing its reputation as an innovator again by launching a version of its bestselling Endeavour with a QR code watch face that can be scanned to retrieve information about the timepiece stored on the blockchain.
The watch, the Endeavour Center Seconds Genesis, is the physical embodiment of a large-scale project with mechanical, digital and virtual dimensions.
Edouard Meylan, CEO of H. Moser & Cie., admits he is at the start of a journey with no clear roadmap ahead.
“We are at the dawn of a new technological era. For us, it seemed crucial to evolve with our times and to take a clear stance, playing an active role in defining the rules of this still little-known world, whilst remaining humble, and asking the right questions. Entrepreneurship is in our DNA and we strive to cultivate this philosophy by taking risks and exploring new uncharted territories,” he says.
The project has seen the development of a physical and digital ecosystem that comes together in the Endeavour Genesis watch and a dedicated app that allows its authentication through blockchain technology provided by Aura Blockchain Consortium.
Aura SaaS allows customers to access complete traceability and transparency information through the product’s life cycle from certification, warranty, insurance and further customer services.
This authentication will eventually be introduced for all Moser watches via the warranty card.
Digital assets have also been created in the form of NFTs including digital artwork such as short time capsule videos promoting the product and the watchmakers behind it.
In addition, Moser has developed an immersive metaverse experience where visitors can discover the history of the brand and the manufacture, and meet the Moser team in a virtual Swiss chalet.
The Endeavour Center Seconds Genesis is a limited edition of 50 watches with 3D-printed titanium crown and bezel, a unique QR code engraved on its sapphire crystal, and a microblasted steel case.
Moser has three versions planned, and owners of the first watch will be given first dibs on the second two.
The watch can be bought with old-style cash or crypto-currency.
It is a 40mm time-only timepiece housing an HMC 200 automatic movement with power reserve of three days.
