Maurice Lacroix is tickled pink by peach fuzz timekeepers

Pantone's colour of the year had already made it to the dial of last summer's Aikon automatic drop.

Peach fuzz has been declared by Pantone as its colour of the year for 2024, which is a challenge to the watchmaking community because it already uses so many other shades of pink.

There are salmon pink dials, pink gold cases, coral pink Rolex Oyster Perpetuals, Barbie pink TAG Heuers — the list is endless.

In support of peach fuzz, Pantone insists: “At a time of turmoil in many aspects of our lives, our need for nurturing, empathy and compassion grows ever stronger as does our imaginings of a more peaceful future. A warm and cozy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others and the feeling of sanctuary this creates, Peach Fuzz is a heartfelt hue bringing a feeling of tenderness and communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration.”

Maurice Lacroix is ahead of the pack when it comes to Pantone’s peach fuzz choice.

“Embrace the warmth and sophistication of Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz, with Maurice Lacroix’s selection of luxurious timepieces. Whether paired with formal attire or worn as a statement piece for casual occasions, Maurice Lacroix’s versatile design and timeless appeal makes them the perfect accessory to effortlessly elevate any ensemble,” the company claims.

It is reasonable to point out that Maurice Lacroix got a bit lucky since its Aikon automatics in peach fuzz were launched last year as a special summer edition with their clous de Paris patterned dial described simply as ‘pink’.

But they are still on sale now, priced at €2,550, which gets you a 39mm steel sports watch running on an automatic ML115 movement (a modified Sellita SW-200). The watch can be worn on a steel bracelet or pink rubber strap.

If your budget is a little more limited, you could opt for a Maurice Lacroix Aikon #Tide Camo, which uses the same peach fuzz as its main colour.

The quartz-based watches, which are made from recycled ocean plastics, retail for €800.
