Maurice de Mauriac gets regal with purple L3 Spheric

The colour purple may have high pretentions, but Maurice de Mauriac wants the watch to be accessible to all, calling it an exquisite colour that is not gender-oriented.

Zurich-based Maurice de Mauriac has given a regal purple sheen to its latest addition to the L3 Spheric collection.

The colour, associated with royalty, aristocracy and even religion, was chosen for the first L3 Spheric of 2023, which brothers Massimo and Leonard Dreifuss, current custodians of Maurice de Mauriac, unveiled in Geneva earlier this month.

The colour purple may have high pretentions, but Maurice de Mauriac wants the watch to be accessible to all, calling it an exquisite colour that is not gender-oriented.

“Purple is an attitude that men, women and everyone can wear,” the company states.

The minimalist L3 Spheric Purple chronograph joins a collection also available with red, blue, green, and brown dials and raw steel, bronze or DLC-coated 40.5mm cases.

Hand-wound versions just under 13mm high while automatics are 1mm thicker.

Both use movements made for Maurice de Mauriac by Concepto, a historic manufacturer based in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Hand-wound models start from CHF 4,400 and the range tops out with the DLC-coated automatic at CHF 5,900.
