Makina Watches Launches Andras I

In an industry where rectangular watches are already full of art deco inspired dress watches, Makina, founded by Danilo Villanueva, designs its first rectangular watch to be bolder, sportier and more contemporary. Introducing, the sleek, the stealthy, Makina Andras_I.

Andras_I is designed to look imposing from every angle, hence the aggressive slopes and angular shapes that make up a multifaceted case made of 316L surgical grade stainless steel.

The edges are crisp and well defined without compromising comfort and finished with alternating high gloss and brushed surfaces for varying reflective finish.

Its octagonal shape is purposefully designed to taper around a larger, circular movement to reduce volume and improve wearability for the average male wrist measuring at 33mm wide, 44mm lug to lug, 10.5mm thick and yet packs a lot of wrist presence.

Finished with a subtle sand textured surface, the dial is made of brass and has a lot of depth and 3-dimensional quality.

The middle layer displays printed minute markers and hour markers that are made up of hand polished metallic indices which mirror the shape of its sword-like hands, painted blue for higher legibility.

The elliptical shape that carves into the bottom layer for the seconds markers offset on an oval racetrack is meant to give it a face that’s unique to Andras_I.

Powering Andras_I is the Swiss-made, Sellita SW260-1 with small seconds at 6, 38 hour power reserve and a beat rate of 4Hz visible through an exhibition style caseback.

Makina Andras_I comes in two variants: Stealth Black (PVD coated) which comes with a 22mm muscular, sporty silicone rubber strap and Stealth Gray which comes with genuine crocodile leather straps – both are equipped with deployment clasps.
