Celebrity adventurer and entrepreneur Bear Grylls has put his name to a new Luminox watch that delivers the toughness required of a survivalist while being made from recycled materials.
The #tide Luminox X Bear Grylls Survival ECO watch has a case, bezel and strap made from 100% recycled materials.
“When it comes to reducing harm to our wild places and natural environment, we need to be the change we want to see. I am so proud to partner with Luminox on our new Eco Series watch, leading the way towards a future without plastic,” Mr Grylls says.
It will be promoted with the star’s #NeverGiveUp and Luminox’s #EverySecondCounts social media tags.
#tide refers to a material made entirely from plastic collected by local fishermen in the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand.
The waste material is washed, shredded and turned into a granular material that can be injected or spun into a yarn that Luminox is using for the new 45mm watch’s case, bezel, and strap.
The #tide Luminox X Bear Grylls Survival ECO watch is made in a limited run of 1,500 and a portion of the retail price from each sale will be donated directly to Project Aware (www.projectaware.org), which works with scuba divers around the globe to protect underwater environments.
