Silas Walton, founder and managing director of A Collected Man, will chair a panel discussion on watch design on the Saturday, November 12, of WATCHPRO Salon.
The luxury watch exhibition and collectors’ meeting takes place from November 11 to 12 at The Londoner hotel on Leicester Square.
Mr Walton has created a hugely respected business trading in ultra-rare watches from some of today’s greatest living watchmakers.
A Collected Man set a world record for the sale of a Philippe Dufour Grande et Petite Sonnerie watch for $7.63 million (£5 million) in the summer of 2021.
The business describes itself as the leading online platform for buying and selling the world’s most exceptional watches. “We believe true taste is timeless,” Mr Walton says.
He will be joined at WATCHPRO Salon by two iconic contemporary designers: Mo Coppoletta, and Luca Soprana.
Mo Coppoletta is a London-based tattoo artist with strong links to the watch world through collaborative pieces for the likes of Romain Jerome, Montblanc and Bulgari, for whom he designed an Octo Finissimo with a dial combining the art of tattooing with the art of mechanics.
Luca Soprana burst onto the horological map in 2013 when his Neuchatel-based Studio 7h38 worked with Jacob & Co to design the out of this world Astronomia Tourbillon, a triple-axis tourbillon watch that has the earth and moon rotating a 50mm dial.
More recently, Mr Soprana has been hailed for the design of The Old School by Massena LAB x Luca Soprana, a hand-made watch inspired by marine chronometers of the late 18th century and the sector dials found on many chronometer wristwatches.
