With winter approaching, spare a thought for the tireless MoonSwatch flippers who hang around outside the Oxford Street Swatch boutique in London, still hoping to score the £207 Speedmaster clone.
The bioceramic watches are no longer trading for four figures on the secondary market, but Chrono24’s data shows they are still selling for more than double their retail price, at an average of £437 in recent weeks.
In a cost of living crisis, that is a welcome return and worth trying to buy them new at retail.
A brand new Swatch store at the recently opened Battersea Power Station shopping centre could be just the place to wait out the winter months.
The boutique opened last Friday on the upper ground floor of Turbine Hall B, and has a unique design inspired by the industrial architecture of the Victorian power station.
Swatch says up to 400 different watches will be presented in the store, including the Bioceramic MoonSwatch, Swatch x Dragon Ball Z, SwatchPAY!, and the sister brand Flik Flak .
