It’s official. Stars of the women’s game are just as passionate about their luxury watches as their male counterparts in football.

And their favourite brand?

Rolex, of course.

Appealing as much to ladies as to men has always been a fundamental strategy for Rolex, and it appears to be working with the England football team who face Australia for a place in the Women’s World Cup on Wednesday.

The most expensive watch worn publicly (and shared on her Instagram) is a 40mm Rolex Day-Date in 18ct rose gold with an olive green dial on the wrist of Manchester and England defender Alex Greenwood.

Rolex Datejust for Ellie Roebuck

Goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck shows she has safe hands by bagging this bi-colour Rolex DateJust in a ladies 31mm size.

Like team mate Alex Greenwood, she has gone for a combination of gold with olive green and Roman numerals on the dial.

The watch has a retail price of £10,850, and is on sale at Watchfinder for £13,750.

Lucy Bronze picks bicolour Rolex DateJust

Spotted on her wrist while receiving an MBE for winning last year’s Euros, defender Lucy Bronze demonstrated perfect timing by clipping into a bicolour Rolex Datejust.

I’m not certain Watchfinder has it right in identifying the watch as a 26mm Rolex Ref. 79173 in steel and gold. It looks larger.

But you can buy a 2001 version of the discontinued ladies’ piece for £5,795 on the pre-owned specialist’s site.

Barcelona and England midfielder Keira Walsh is often seen wearing her 31mm bicolour Rolex DateJust with a gold and steel oyster bracelet.
