Laings appoints new General Manager for its Glasgow flagship

The move marks a return to his hometown of Glasgow, where he began his career in the renowned Argyll Arcade.

Joining from Fraser Hart, Laings has appointed Graham Bruce as general manager of its flagship Glasgow showroom.

The move marks a return to his hometown of Glasgow, where he began his career in the renowned Argyll Arcade.

In announcing the appointment, Laings says it is a significant step towards the retailer realising its journey of evolution, designed to challenge jewellery and watch retail experiences.

As general manager, Graham will be responsible for preparing Laings’ talented team of experts for the grand opening of its new Rowan House showroom on Glasgow’s prestigious ‘style mile’, in 2023.

The redevelopment of Rowan House is part of a wider £10 million investment by Laings to elevate and expand its showrooms throughout the UK, including Edinburgh, Cardiff and Southampton.

Reflecting on the appointment, Stuart McDowell, Managing Director at Laings, said: “Graham is a well-respected leader in the industry and we look forward to welcoming him to the Laings family. His background, skills and passion speak volumes, and I cannot think of anyone better to be at the helm of our flagship, delivering an unparalleled luxury experience.”

While Graham Bruce himself, added: “Having grown up and begun my career in Glasgow, I am familiar with Laings’ rich heritage. When I was younger, I often peered in the window to marvel at the stunning display of watches, and I always aspired to work with the prestigious brand.

“The opportunity to join the business at such a pivotal time is incredibly exciting and I am looking forward to a fantastic year ahead as we prepare to open the doors to our incredible new showroom in the heart of Glasgow City Centre.”

A wider recruitment programme to appoint specialists into various roles, including watchmakers, will take place in the new year.
