Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has paid almost £300,000 to buy a Cartier watch once owned by Jackie Kennedy.
Celebrity news website TMZ reports that Ms Kardashian was an anonymous bidder at a Christie’s auction, paying $379,500 for the watch.
TMZ says auction sources described the Cartier as a gift to the former wife of President John F Kennedy from her brother-in-law Prince Stanislaw “Stas” Radziwill.
Christie’s described the Cartier watch as a “fine and historically important 18ct gold square-shaped wristwatch, belonging to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
It is a signed Cartier, Tank model, movement No. 2117860, manufactured in 1962.
The same lot included an original painting by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis signed JBK.
The pre-sale estimate was $60,000 – 120,000 in the Christie’s Rare Watch and American Icons auction on June 21 in New York.
