JOB OF THE DAY: Head of Operations, C W Sellors

You will report directly to the Managing Director and will play a key role in the launch and operation of our groundbreaking visitor attraction at Carsington Water.

The C W Sellors team is expanding as they are on the lookout for a Head of Operations.

The retailer is a well-established and fast-growing family company that is one of the leading independent businesses in the fine jewellery and luxury watch sector.

This senior role has direct responsibility for our back-of-house operations and will work closely with our customer-facing boutiques and online platforms.

As part of the role, you will oversee the movement of goods into and out of our head office in Ashbourne, Derbyshire as well as the HR function for the business and will drive the improvement of business processes in all areas.

You will report directly to the Managing Director and will play a key role in the launch and operation of our groundbreaking visitor attraction at Carsington Water.

Key responsibilities:

  • Direct line management responsibility for the Goods In and Dispatch functions at our head office to ensure that all movements of goods are performed accurately and efficiently and that all performance targets are met.
  • Direct line management responsibility for the HR function to ensure the business recruits, retains and develops the best people.
  • Working closely with other heads of departments to develop and implement new business processes that improve efficiency, productivity or the customer experience.
  • Responsible for the safe and legal operation of the business and for head office in particular
  • Working closely with the rest of the senior team to ensure a successful launch and the ongoing successful operation of the development at Carsington Water through recruiting and training the team and developing the ongoing operational model.

Required skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Extensive experience of recruitment and people management
  • Leadership and management skills and the ability to motivate, influence and retain staff across all levels.
  • Commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of the competitive environment.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and delegate when appropriate.
  • Experience in the jewellery industry and/or warehouse management and business logistics preferred.
  • Excellent IT skills.
