Jacob & Co’s Godfather is the Don of Bonham’s New York sale with $180k estimate

The limited edition 18K rose gold musical tourbillon wristwatch, circa 2019, was developed in conjunction with Paramount Pictures to celebrate the soundtrack of the classic film.

Bonhams is paying homage to the 50th anniversary of the multi-Oscar winning movie, The Godfather, by offering a rare Jacob & Co Opera Godfather musical wristwatch on October 20th.

The limited edition 18K rose gold musical tourbillon wristwatch, circa 2019, was developed in conjunction with Paramount Pictures to celebrate the soundtrack of the classic film.

The musical component is activated via the pusher at 10 o’clock where the entire dial and movement plate rotates in conjunction with the music.

With an estimate of between $120k-$180k, the design includes a small figure of Vito Corleone seated in the centre of the dial along with the cult Godfather movie logo design.

Nate Borgelt, Head of Department for watches in US, commented: “This cinematic timepiece is a really exciting piece to come to auction, even more so during the anniversary year.

“The Jacob & Co. leads a superb selection of fine watches in the New York watches sale representing modern to vintage styles from great names of horology including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Panerai and Audemars Perpetual.”

Other stars of the sale include a phenomenal 18K gold Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon phase.

First introduced in 1986, the watch on sale is circa 1988 and is a well-preserved example with all original parts and dark patination to the case as a result of the watch having minimal wear-time and no polish.

It is offered with an estimate of $60k-$90k.
