Introducing the New Doxa SUB 300T Clive Cussler Edition: The Ultimate Timepiece for Adventure Lovers

Doxa launches a brand-new limited-edition SUB 300T bearing the name of Clive Cussler

Today sees the unveiling of a brand-new limited-edition Doxa SUB 300T bearing the name of Clive Cussler (1931–2020), a maritime adventurer, author, and the man who founded the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA).

Since the beginning, the goal of NUMA has been to discover the mysteries of nautical and naval history while looking for significant missing ships. Mr Cussler has led a group of courageous marine scientists and volunteers on perilous trips to unearth some of the most important wreck sites in human history.

They have investigated more than 60 submerged ships, each of which had a mystery waiting to be solved. All artefacts are either donated to museums and educational institutions by NUMA or given to state and federal authorities.

As an author, more than 100 million copies of Mr Cussler’s books have been sold. Known for his adventure novels, notably in the action-adventure and thriller genres, he is famed for his series featuring the fictional character Dirk Pitt, a marine engineer, adventurer, and treasure hunter.

The high-stakes maritime or historical mysteries in Mr Cussler’s tales frequently involve espionage, archaeology, and underwater investigation and some of his most famous tomes include Raise the Titanic!, Sahara, Atlantis Found and Pacific Vortex!.

Doxa gained widespread popularity thanks in part to the writings of Mr Cussler. In order to precisely read the time while diving on his time-sensitive missions, protagonist Dirk Pitt relied on this watch’s famous orange dial, and the author himself wore one of the brand’s watches.

The new SUB 300T Clive Cussler model is unique, yet upholds the line’s fundamental characteristics. The watch is deliberately ‘aged’, which makes it perfect to be worn by adventurers in one of Mr Cussler’s stories.

It uses ‘distressed’ steel for the case, bracelet, clasp, and pin buckle and has an original handmade dial that resembles a vintage compass. The appearance is intended to conjure up a journey and a tale about a maritime relic that has spent some time at depth. It serves as more than just a simple timepiece; it symbolizes exploration and discovery.

Each timepiece has a discretely etched serial number that represents its originality and authenticity on the side of the bezel. The numbers 7, 15, and 31 in the date wheel are displayed in red to commemorate Mr Cussler’s birthday, which was July 15, 1931.

With all of these special features, the faceted, 42mm watch is a statement of the adventurous spirit and the fearless spirit of discovery, whether it is worn on land or at sea.

“Cussler’s internationally famed novels were a natural platform for Doxa watches,” says Doxa CEO Jan Edöcs. “The famous orange dial dive watch continues to be a fixture for his fictional adventure hero Dirk Pitt, accompanying him on his many daredevil adventures under the sea.”

Mr Cussler’s son Dirk is already a fan of the watch saying: “Bold. Creative. Adventurous. It was how my father approached life. Whether searching for historic shipwrecks or formulating tales of adventure, he was always original and always unique.

“Sentiments that are perfectly captured in this watch that bears his name. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Doxa for honoring my father’s legacy with a watch that exemplifies his courage, originality, and love of exploration.”

The watch’s caseback features engravings of the names of shipwrecks and other historical objects that NUMA has discovered or surveyed as of 2022. Each watch comes with a beaded rice bracelet, a folding clasp, and a ratcheting wetsuit extender, as well as a second beige NATO strap. Additionally available is a black FKM rubber strap with a folding clasp.

A helium release valve and water resistance of 1,200 meters are both sea-faring elements of the watch, which has a unidirectional rotating bezel to calculate and track dive times. A 38-hour power reserve Swiss automatic movement is housed inside the case.

The watch is priced at £ 2,590. The FKM rubber strap is extra. A portion of the profit from sales of the SUB 300T Clive Cussler will be donated to NUMA.
