Independent watchmakers get Hollywood documentary treatment

Keeper of Time film features life and work of Philippe Dufour, Roger W. Smith, François-Paul Journe and Max Büsser.

Today’s stars of the independent watchmaking scene have come together to give an insight into their life, work and philosophy in an upcoming documentary film, Keeper of Time.

Philippe Dufour, Roger W. Smith, François-Paul Journe and Max Büsser are among the artists and entrepreneurs featured in the documentary, which “explores mechanical watchmaking while contemplating the theoretical and philosophical notions of time, aging and mortality”.

The program, created by Tourbillon Film Works, premiers on April 28 in New York.

Other prominent figures featured include Hodinkee founder Ben Clymer, Michael Friedman, head of complications at Audemars Piguet), vintage watch dealer and collector Eric Ku, collector William Massena and Horological Society of New York director Nicholas Manousos.

No major streaming service has confirmed it will carry the film.
