Top-tier customer service is a disappearing art form in the age of e-commerce, but at Hamilton Jewelers standards remain as high now as when the business first launched in 1912.

Hank B. Siegel officially joined the business in 1987, training under his grandfather, and now finds himself at the helm of this fourth-generation business that is celebrating its 110th year.

“My goal has always been to enhance the Hamilton brand without losing the family-owned, personalized touch for which the brand has come to be known,” says Hank, who is joined in his endeavors by his son Andrew Siegel.

An engaged staff is crucial to creating such an atmosphere and to delivering the sort of service Hamilton’s clientele expects, but maintaining these standards has been tougher than ever for all retailers during the pandemic.

In spite of all the challenges, the business has continued to grow — something Andrew believes is the result of a strong company culture that has remained intact throughout.

“Hamilton’s success over the last 12 months is due to the excellence of our team,” he says. “At our annual team recognition event in January of this year, we celebrated many tenured colleagues who have been with us for five, 10, 20, 30, and even 35 years.”

Hamilton and its dedicated staff have lots more to look forward to over the next 12 months, including the completion of Hamilton’s 10-year renovation of its flagship Princeton store in New Jersey, which has been a complete “top to bottom refurbishment”.

The new space will include improved workshops and servicing facilities, as well as a multi-brand Watch Lounge that will provide more space for premium brands including Cartier, Rolex, Patek Philippe and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The combination of trusted heritage, family ownership and a deep expertise has long been the secret to the Siegels’ success, but it is their passion for the industry that keeps them going strong.

As Hank states: “I always say, we are in the greatest business – people commemorating special events or occasions, looking to celebrate or merely treat themselves … and it never gets old.”
