GPHG’s pre-selected awards watches set for round-the-world tour

As part of the annual fall tour, this year’s watches will be met by collectors and an audience of fine watchmaking connoisseurs.

The 84 pre-selected watches by the jury of the GPHG 2019 are set to take part in a round-the-world tour.

The watches will be met by collectors and an audience of fine watchmaking connoisseurs as part of the tour.

Open to all, GPHG says the exhibitions have been designed to celebrate contemporary horological excellence and creativity.

The tour happens every fall. The watches pre-selected by the GPHG jury travel the world for a series of exhibitions, offering an international audience an opportunity to discover the recent technical and artistic achievements of the industry.

The 2019 travelling exhibition will present 84 watches by 50 brands.

It will begin in Asia in partnership with The Hour Glass, which will host the GPHG first in Sydney, from September 27-29 in its boutique on King Street, and then in Bangkok from October 3-5.

The watches will then fly to Mexico City, where they will be guests of honour at the Salón Internacional Alta Relojería, from October 15-17.

They will then be presented in Puebla for a public exhibition at the Museo Internacional del Barroco from October 18-20, followed by a more targeted presentation at Torres Joyas on October 22 and 23.

Back in Geneva, the timepieces will take up residence for two weeks from November 1 in the Musée d’art et d’histoire, where, the GPHG has for the past three years organised a multi-faceted annual exhibition dedicated to the art and culture of watchmaking.

After the prize-giving ceremony, the 2019 tour will end in Dubai, where the GPHG winning watches will be presented from November 20-24 at the 4th Dubai Watch Week.

The official 2019 pre-selection will be announced on September 2nd while the final winners will be announced on November 7 at the prize-giving ceremony.
