Glashütte Original brings Californian cool to Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date

Golden Bay and Ocean Breeze references build on the breakout success of the German watchmaker’s rounded square chronographs.

Glashütte Original Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date has been a bit of a breakout hit for the German watchmaker thanks to its combination of a retro aesthetic, intelligent use of color and the quality finishing of its rounded square collection.

Building on that success, this summer Glashütte Original is releasing two limited editions with dial colors described as Golden Bay and Ocean Breeze.

Both bring a sort of innocent Californian vibe to the collection, when dropping out to surf the ocean waves was in vogue.

Only 100 of the 40mm x 40mm watch are being made of each color.

Both can be worn with a choice of a steel bracelet or rubber strap.

All the other aspects of Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date remain the same: they use a finely finished automatic Calibre 37-02 to power central hours, minutes and flyback chronograph hands, plus month, panorama date, small seconds and chronograph sub dial counters.

The movement has a 70 hour power reserve and is protected from impact and water to a depth of 100 meters.

They are on sale now for GBP 14,400.
