Hot on the heels of yesterday’s Maestro tourbillon dress watch launch, Gerald Charles is showing its sportier side with two versions of the irregularly shaped watch linked to the professional tennis circuit.
The Maestro GC Sport has been made with the choice of a dial made to look like a clay court, most famously used for the French Open at Roland-Garros in Paris, and another inspired by the green grass of Wimbledon.
They complete a trilogy of watches that began last year with the original Maestro GC Sport, which had a dial designed like a hard court tennis surface.
Both new Clay and Grass models, limited to 200 pieces, are made from lightweight polished titanium.
They are powered by the slim automatic Ref. GCA 3002 movement, made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
The movement, protected by an anti-shock system that may help it survive a battering by Nick Cyrios, has 50 hour power reserve thanks to a twin-barrel system of energy storage.
It is on view via an exhibition case back, and decorated with a Côtes de Genève finish on its bridges.
Gerald Charles sells the watch with an extended warranty of five years.
Gerald Charles is a family-owned watch company founded in 2000 by arguably Switzerland’s greatest contemporary watch designer, Gérald Genta.
Despite selling the company in 2003, he stayed on as its designer-in-chief until his death in 2011.
