Google search study finds Fossil and Garmin challenging Rolex for top spot

Rolex is the most Googled watch brand globally, receiving more than 696,000 searches on average per month.

It is not that Rolex comes out on top of a list of most popular watch brands in the world, it is the fact that Fossil and Garmin are so close behind that seems newsworthy in a recent study by Chrono24.

Chrono24.com analyzed Google search data for watch brands to reveal which ones are searched the most globally per month.

Rolex is the most Googled watch brand globally, receiving more than 696,000 searches on average per month.

Fossil follows in second with an average of 595,000 Google searches per month.

Luxury brand Garmin takes third place with a total of 539,400 searches per month.

Volume brands fare particularly well in the study, particularly Japanese marques.

In fourth place is Casio, G-Shock is eighth, Seiko ninth and Citizen tenth.

Other than Rolex, Omega is the only major luxury Swiss watch brand in the top 10, although mid-priced Rado makes a surprise appearance at seventh on the list.

A spokesperson from Chrono24.com comments: “It is exciting to see such variety within the top watch brands. There is something for everyone whether they are looking for a modern smartwatch with extensive technical features or a classic design that has stood the test of time. It is also interesting to see that whilst smartwatches are becoming more popular, more traditional luxury brands such as Rolex and Omega are still incredibly desirable.”
