2023 is the 55th anniversary of Seiko’s ever-popular Seiko 5 Sports and, to mark the occasion, the company has been running a challenge among customers to design their perfect version of the watch.
The results are in, and four limited editions, each produced in a run of 1,968 pieces, has been unveiled.
Seiko encouraged people to study the history of the famously affordable mechanical sports watch, and the resulting watches adopt a number of colourways and design ideas from the past.
There is a winner from four corners of the globe: Europe, Asia, the Americas and Japan.
They all use the same bezel style from the original 1968 model on a 42.5mm steel case worn on a steel bracelet.
Seiko 5 Sports have had the same five key features since their creation: a mechanical automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, recessed crown and durable case and bracelet.
Plain steel versions are retailing for £270 with the gold treated piece priced at £340.
