F.P. Journe produces pink Élégante watch for breast cancer charity

F.P. Journe has made a unique Élégante watch with a pink rubber strap that will be auctioned next month to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The sale is taking place online and at a private event run by Phillips in Miami on Saturday, March 2.

F.P. Journe has donated a 48mm Titalyt version of its Élégante watch with a pink strap and the 1 o’clock hour marker picked out in the same colour.

This electromechanical timepiece is fitted with a mechanical motion detector visible on the dial at 4h30.

After 35 minutes motionless, the watch switches to standby mode in order to save energy and its hands stop turning.

During the standby mode, the microprocessor continues to measure time, but the mechanical elements – gear train, rotors and hands, stop moving.

As soon as it is worn again, it automatically sets itself to the correct time; the hands taking the shortest path, whether clockwise or counter-clockwise.

In theory, according to F.P. Journe, the watch will keep time for up to 18 years in standby mode.
