Brazil and Barcelona FC footballing legend Dani Alves will bring his star power to a launch a collection of 43 watches from Backes & Strauss, one for each of the trophies he has won during his illustrious career.
The watches will all be digitally tethered to incorruptible NFTs developed by Dubai-based ColossalBit.
The Alves Trophy watch collection from Backes & Strauss celebrates the victories of the defender during a career spanning 22 years with six major football clubs and his Brazilian national team, starting with his first major trophy with football club Bahia, then moving onto Barcelona, Juventus and PSG, and extending all the way to the Tokyo Olympics Gold that he won with the Brazil National Team.
“This is one of the most exciting projects Backes & Strauss has ever embarked on,” says Backes & Strauss CEO Vartkess Knadjian. “Footballers do not come bigger than Dani Alves, who, at 38, continues to defy age with supreme athleticism. We are honoured to collaborate with him.”
For Mr Alves, the Trophy collection is a timeless memento he can share with his fans.
“This collection is to celebrate the 43 wonderful memories of each trophy I won so far in my footballing career. Starting with Bahia in Brazil in 2002 and finishing with the unique Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Games in 2021. I am personally inviting you to be part of my history – choose the watch that brings you the most vivid memories of these 43 different victories,” he suggests.
Thirty eight of the 43 watches will be sold with their own unique NFT, and anybody purchasing the combination will be able to attend a launch event in Dubai on June 28 where Mr Alves will personally present them to their owners.
There is also the option to buy a fractionalised NFT for five of the watches. Backes & Strauss and partner ColossalBit have created 150 fractions for each of the five pieces, which are ultimately tradeable but the owner will not own the watch it is linked to.
Backes & Strauss says the fractional NFT owner will benefit from holding a piece of one of these prestigious timepieces, the market for which has been on a steady rise recently, as well as enjoying other benefits including access to a Dani Alves Room in the Metaverse.
Each of the 45mm Trophy Collection timepieces uses a bespoke hand would Skeleton Tourbillon movement with the tourbillon wheel enamelled in the team colours of one of Mr Alves’s clubs.
The flip side of the watches have representations of each trophy he has won.
