Constellation of Pleiades inspires Orient Star moon phase watch

Stargazing Japanese watchmaker adds Moonphase to M45 collection.

Orient Star hopes astronomers and astrologers appreciate its latest mechanical moonphase watch, which is named after the M45 Pleiades Constallation.

The constellation, better known as the Seven Sisters, contains thousands of stars in the open cluster of Taurus, with only the seven brightest visible in the night sky.

It is this view that is depicted with a new watch in the form of a blue dial stamped with patterns representing the infinite stars.

A graduated paint effect is then applied that changes from blue at the centre of the dial to black towards its edge.

Orient Star is leaning into its association with the night sky: the M45 collection named after Pleiades; its M34 collection is inspired by the Perseus cluster; and the M42 collection draws on the Orion constellation.

The M45 F7 Mechanical Moon Phase comes in a steel 41mm case standing 13.8mm.

Central hours, minutes and seconds, plus moon phase, date and power reserve indicator are driven by an automatic calibre F7M65 with 50 hour power reserve, which can be seen via a sapphire crystal case back.

Only 80 are being made, priced at £2,200.
