Citizen is entering the highly competitive market for boldly colored automatic watches with integrated steel bracelets.
Its NJ015 collection, already named Tsuyosa, Japanese for ‘strength’ in its home market, debuts in the United States today with a highly attractive price of £299.
There are five colours in the first family of three-handers with date: black, blue, yellow, turquoise and ivy green sunray dials.
All are powered by Citizen’s Cal.8210 automatic mechanical movement with 40 hour power reserve.
Gender-neutral 40mm Steel cases are slim, at 11.7mm, narrow thanks to the crown being dropped to the 4 o’clock position.
Other details, normally found in far more pricey pieces, include polished and brushed links in the bracelet, sapphire glass front and back to expose the movement and ensure the face is not scratched, and a magnifying cyclops over the date at 3 o’clock.
