Dublin-based Chrome Calibre, which was launched as a business last year, is looking to bring a bit of childish nostalgia to the watch winder market with the creation of products inspired by toy tin robot toys of the 50’s and 60’s.
Designed by the company’s founder Karl Brown, the products aim to make winders into art made for display.
Retro-Bots, which stand a foot tall, are made from aluminium and use winding movements from SwissKubik that can be controlled from a Bluetooth app.
A Kickstarter launch is coming soon, with people encouraged to sign-up for advanced notice at www.chromecalibre.com/vip.
The winders will be retailing for €2,500, but the Kickstarter price will be discounted to €1,350.
