Carl F. Bucherer is demonstrating all the jewellery and watchmaking knowledge it has accumulated over the past 135 years with the creation of the Manero Minute Repeater Anniversary.
It is being described by the Bucherer-owned watch brand as the pinnacle of its prowess and a powerful expression of its rich history, engineering talent and pioneering spirit.
There are only three of the watches being made, each unique, that are an expression of the highest horological art and micro-engineering.
Housing automatic movements consisting of 617 components, they use CFB’s signature peripheral oscillating weight so that the beauty of the decorated bridges and plates can be best seen; a floating tourbillon and chiming minute repeater.
The COSC-certified movement, caliber CFB MR3000, has an 18ct gold oscillating weight and power reserve of 65 hours.
It took took six years to perfect, the company says.
First of the trilogy comes in an 18ct gold case and has a moss-green dial with guilloche finish created by hand using a 200-year-old lathe.
It uses the same yellow gold for hands, hour markers and other details and is worn on a moss green nubuck leather strap.
Next is a version in 18ct white gold with a more feminine light blue mother-of-pearl dial paired with 40 ice-blue, baguette-cut sapphires arranged around the bezel.
The blue of the dial is created by taking naturally occurring translucent white mother-of-pearl that is hand-painted from the rear.
It is worn on a blue rubber strap to give it a modern twist.
Last, but not least, is an 18ct rose gold rainbow edition with a bezel decorated with 40 baguette-cut gemstones including tsavorites, sapphires and rubies.
Jewellers found natural stones that transition smoothly from colour to colour to create the rainbow effect, which is also carried into the hour markers on a black sunray dial.
This version is worn on a black rubber strap.
