Awake, a start-up watchmaker headquartered in Paris, is on a mission to prove that luxurious and innovative watches can be made and promoted in a way that is sensitive to the needs of our planet, and carry a message of hope that mankind can shape a better future.
Its stated agenda is to develop creative watchmaking capable of restoring the beauty and diversity of the living world.
“Our approach to art, architecture and design consists of a fusion of these disciplines to imagine modern watches reflecting our neo-futuristic vision of watchmaking. To this end, we use the oldest and most advanced techniques and crafts to bring our creations to life,” the company says.
Awake is bringing this mission, and its watches, to this year’s WatchPro Salon, which takes place from November 10 to 11.

Awake’s story came to life last year with its Chapter I and II Mission to Earth watches named NASA and Nightfall.
They both had a connection to Space. In the case of the white NASA model, it is designed to look like La Cupola, a panoramic observation window on the International Space Station.
The black Nightfall piece was the first made from 70% recycled titanium, material used extensively in aeronautics and aerospace engineering.
Both use a Miyota 9015 movement with a rotor engraved with the mantra “Dare Mighty Things”, which was woven into the parachute of Perseverance, a NASA Rover that landed on Mars.
The watches were selected by a NASA team working on the Hera project, which will allow researchers to study the adaptation to isolation and remote conditions of astronauts on a mission in the space.
Awake Time Travelers
Chapter III watches named Time Travelers, are out this year as two limited editions of 500 pieces, and will be seen for the first time in the UK at WatchPro Salon.
Both models have dials made from a slither from the Muonionalusta meteorite, which landed on earth a million years ago. According to scientists, the meteorite is 4.56 billion years old, making it the oldest object on our planet.
Each dial from Muonionalusta has a unique pattern formed by extreme heating above 1000 degrees caused by the rock’s entry into the Earth’s atmosphere.
Both 40mm limited editions are made from 70% recycled titanium, one in grey, the other with a purple treatment.
They use the same Miyota three-hand automatic movement with the customised oscillating weight.
They are priced at €1,325 and will be on sale in November at WatchPro Salon.
