Alabaster Industries avant-garde alien timekeepers

Avant-garde Alabaster Industries is set to drop new styles for the upcoming Spring/Summer season.

Jack and Robin Alexander, co-founding brothers and designers for New York’s Alabaster Industries have a mutual aversion to the conservative, friendly, and safe world of fashion and accessory design and are determined to bring an avant-garde outsiders’ perspective to the horological world.

Jack’s career has seen him in Paris, designing men’s leather goods at Louis Vuitton while Robin Alexander worked in the film and television industry in Los Angeles.

They brought this diverse creative experience to Alabaster Industries, which now offers a range of accessories including watches and sunglasses.

“Alabaster Industries is the pursuit of products that are unconventional and dissident. Separating itself from the stale, conservative, and traditional landscape of luxury watches and accessories, Alabaster presents a singular, ominous, and adversarial vision while retaining its forebearers’ hand, craftsmanship, and quality,” the brothers say.

Alabaster Industries is set to drop new styles for the upcoming Spring/Summer season.

The watches are on sale with Dover Street Market, online and at its world-wide network of stores. Prices range from around £2,000 to £3,500.

Dove

The Dove was the first full sterling silver creation from Alabaster Industries. Named after its part of the Alabaster Industries hawk and dove logo, this watch features sterling silver claws protecting the face of the watch.

These claws continue into a repeating droplet flow down the silver watch band onto the butterfly clasp. The most collected and longest living design in the Alabaster Industries stable, the Dove watch has continued to evolve and refine in technique and finish.

Hawk

Named for the other symbol in the Alabaster Industries Hawk and Dove logo, the
Hawk style is the counterpart to the Dove.

With the claw and drip motif reformed and contorted, the Hawk style represents a more biological, animated and predatory foil of the Alabaster Industries Dove.

Sinew

The Sinew embodies Alabaster Industries desire to bring the living, growing energy
into objects. Strands of silver stretch across the watch body with liquid tension.
The watch is asymmetrical and animated, evoking the feeling that if you turn away
it might change on its own volition.

Core

The Core watch evokes the beauty in the natural textures of decay. The contrasting
finishes bring order to the organic, corroded form. From matte valleys to mirrored
peaks, the variation brings attention to the range of material qualities of sterling
silver. The undulating natural surface continues down the band and suggests the
development of texture and decay of age to the watches mechanical form.
