Frederique Constant kicks off 35th anniversary with pair of Highlife Worldtimers

Both will be presented at this year’s Watches and Wonders, at which Frederique Constant is appearing for the first time alongside Citizen Watch Company stablemate Alpina.

Can it really be 35 years since Frederique Constant burst onto the Swiss watchmaking scene?

The brand was launched in 1988, the same year The Pogues released Fairy Tale of New York, to put it in context, and its first watches to mark this anniversary is a limited edition 18ct rose gold version of its Highlife Worldtimer with a blue dial, and an unlimited model in steel with a dark brown face.

Both will be presented at this year’s Watches and Wonders, at which Frederique Constant is appearing for the first time alongside Citizen Watch Company stablemate Alpina.

Highlife Worldtimer is the pinnacle of Frederique Constant’s high horology range, an alternative to Patek Philippe’s legendary globe trotting timepieces with 24 cities of the world on their dials for a fraction of the price.

The watches use Frederique Constant’s manufacture FC-718 automatic movement that drives central hours, minutes and seconds hands, a date subdial at 6 o’clock and a second time zone ring, which also shows day and night time in dark and light shades.

Both come with aligator leather straps in the same shade as their dials in addition to rubber straps, also in matching colours.

The steel model has a third option with a 3-link bracelet with polished and brushed finishing.

You can buy the steel version for £3,595 while the rose gold piece, limited to just 35 pieces, is POA.
