Citizen rock star watches are inspired by geological passage of time

Watches are decorated in inks that give a sense of depth and are inspired by geological layers of rocks.

Citizen is continuing its centenary celebrations with a collection of Attesa and Promaster chronographs with dials inspired by geological layers of rock and minerals that shaped our planet over millions of years.

The Layers of Time collection has five limited edition models, all running on Citizen’s light-powered Eco-Drive quartz movements.

Dials are made from recycled polycarbonate printed with inks that create a glitter and sheen that gives them a sense of depth. The inks need to allow light through to ensure the watches remain charged.

With a case and bracelet made from Citizen’s Super Titanium, the Satellite Wave GPS edition of the Layers of Time Attesa line is the most expensive, at £2295, and the largest measuring 44.6mm across by 15.4mm tall.

It is a limited edition of 1,900 pieces and the colour gradation on its dial bursts on its sapphire bezel. Vapor deposition technology creates shifting colours from blue to purple depending on the viewing angle.

It uses a highly accurate F950 Eco-Drive movement and is brimming with features including a world timer bezel to see the time in 24 cities, a 1/20th of a second chronograph, power reserve indicator and perpetual calendar.

Smaller than the Satellite GPS model at 42mm, and less expensive at £1,495, this model is kept accurate anywhere in the world thanks to communicating with radio towers that transmit the time.

It is also made entirely from Citizen’s Super Titanium and comes in limited production run of 2,100 pieces.

Its case and bracelet are made from stainless steel with grey-coloured plating, which keeps the price down to £695. 10,000 are being made.

Sparkling natural diamonds on four indices on the dial and a row of four diamonds at the three o’clock position on the case provide a stylish look and a touch of elegance to this ladies model for the Layers of Time family.

4,200 pieces are being made, priced at £499, for this steel-on-steel, three-hander with date measuring 29.5mm x 8.3mm.
