Bianchet’s co-founders Rodolfo and Emmanuelle Festa Bianchet have found a way to bring nature’s Golden Ratio and Fibonacci series into their perfectly proportioned timekeepers in ways that you do not need to understand academically, but will be enchanted by once you try them on your wrist.
The business, founded in 2017, is at this year’s WatchPro Salon to present its most ambitious watch to date, the Flying Tourbillon Grande Date, which will be presented publicly for the first time in the UK at WatchPro Salon.
It is an ultra-modern skeletonised watch that comes in Bianchet’s signature tonneau-shaped case made from a light and tough titanium and carbon composite.
Bianchet’s movements and watches are assembled by hand in La-Chaux-De-Fonds from components sourced from the surrounding area.
The craftsmanship is exceptional as you zoom in on the hand-bevelling of titanium bridges and the watch’s beating tourbillon heart.
Precise positioning of the two complications within the movement aligns with Golden Rectangles forming the framework of its construction.
The front bridge design originates from the tourbillon cage’s central point, following smooth curves dictated by the Fibonacci sequence. The back bridges develop within concentric Golden Circles, their diameters adhering to the Golden Ratio of 1.618.
Despite the seemingly delicate design of the watches, Bianchet positions them as luxury sports watches capable of everyday wear and water resistant to 100 metres.
Only 200 will be made each year, priced at CHF 65,000.
