Swatch Group brand unveils homage to aviation

Swiss watchbrand Breguet, part of the Swatch Group, has launched its new Type XXI 3817 chronograph which aims to merge history and innovation.

The watch is designed to reflect the aeronautical origins of the Type XX line, launched in the 1950s when the French government commissioned chronographs to equip the National Air Force and the Naval Air. To emphasize the vintage-style, this 42mm diameter timepiece combines a slate grey dial with an aged calfskin strap.

Alongside the flyback function standard in all models of this collection, the movement of this novelty incorporates silicon components, firmly bringing it into the 21st century.

Another unique feature of this watch lies in its sapphire crystal caseback which features a satin-brushed yellow gold rotor.

The watch has a bidirectional rotating bezel, rounded lugs, screw-locked crown and is water-resistant to 10 bar (100m).

It also features a 12-hour totaliser and date at 6 o’clock with a small seconds at 9 o’clock. It is a self-winding movement and has a 48 hours power reserve, inverted in-line Swiss lever escapement with silicon pallets and a balance frequency 4Hz.
