The Fellows’ Watches & Watch Parts auction has reported a 94% sold rate and saw watch tools, originally destined for scrap, do particularly well.
The auction achieved a hammer total of £202,000 – just shy of three times the bottom estimate – and saw various horology equipment such as pressure testers and case tools prove very popular.
A Rolex case tool was entered to sale with an estimate of £100-150 and went on to achieve a hammer price of £1,000. Meanwhile, a Rolex pressure tester, sold for £1,500 on an estimate of £80-120.
Watches from Cartier, Breitling and Rolex also sold well, as did a range of pocket watches.
