Zenith upcycles Louis Vuitton waste leathers and fabrics into straps

Zenith is working with LVMH stablemate Nona Source to make watch straps for its Defy Midnight collection.

Nona Source was created by luxury group LVMH in 2021 as a business where waste fabrics and leathers from its fashion brands could be upcycled into something new.

Now LVMH-owned watchmaker Zenith is working with Nona Source to make watch straps for its Defy Midnight collection.

“Working with Nona Source is exactly the kind of responsible, ecological yet also luxurious kind of innovation that we seek at the Zenith Manufacture. This initiative not only helps in upcycling luxurious materials in a new context, but also gives the Defy Midnight collection a high-fashion edge. My team and I are excited to see these straps being worn and look forward to exploring new possibilities with Nona Source,” says Zenith CEO Julien Tornare.

The collaboration’s first output is seven handmade straps using different coloured and textured fabrics with rubber backings in a vanilla-white moleskin woven cotton, a blue silk and wool Mikado, a sage-green washed crepe, a sandy-beige poly-viscose canvas, a pink denim, a vibrant yellow tricotine, and a cream curly mohair.
