Vanacci watch 8

Yorkshire nous and Italian flair combine to Kickstart Vannaci watch launch

It pays to be different when trying to attract attention on crowd funding website Kickstarter, and the combination of “Italian design flair and Yorkshire manufacturing nous” appears to have done the trick for fledgling watch brand Vannaci.

Over 270 micro-investors pledged almost £24,000 to pay for the launch of the watch brand, which is creating minimalist timepieces from stainless steel and carbon leather.

The first production pieces will go on sale on April 12, and the company then hopes to build up a network of retail stockists across Europe.

“The reaction to our Kickstarter campaign was totally unprecedented – we’ve ended up securing three times the funds we initially needed to put the watch into production, and our first backers have now received their fantastic array of rewards. We’d like to thank each and every one of them for their contributions and their support,” said Ryan Ward, co-founder of Vanacci.

“Our attention now turns to launching the watch to the public. Watch stockists all over continental Europe are already planning to stock the Vanacci watch, and of course, customers in the UK will be able to purchase theirs directly from us via our website. We’re absolutely thrilled with all of the positive feedback we’ve received, and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Vanacci – both the watch itself, and the brand as a whole.”

Vanacci’s unique selling point is its carbon leather strap. The micro carbon fibre pattern reflects the GT style weave in a miniaturised version, and the pattern is then fused to a chrome-tanned leather.
