WOTY2013: Schofield Blacklamp Carbon

Earlier this year WatchPro unveiled its Watches of the Year 2013, made up of 10 winning timepieces and 90 highly commended watches that we felt boasted commercial appeal, innovation and had wowed consumers and retailers alike over the past 12 months.

Highly commended for the WatchPro Luxury Watch of the Year 2013 was the Schofield Blacklamp Carbon.

In 2012 newbie Schofield was our Rising Star of the year and the British brand has continued its ascent in 2013, culminating in the intriguing Blacklamp Carbon.

The Blacklamp Carbon is on a whole new level of cool that begins with the stealth look given to the case, which has been crafted using the proprietary carbon fibre-matrix material Morta.

The imposing black of the case is enhanced by the constant low-level glow created by a Tritium gas light in the watch’s crown. Upping the cool credentials further, a ring of a material developed by NASA, called Moonglow, illuminates the dial in the dark.

A 500 Lumen torch that comes with each watch can be used to activate the Moonglow ring. Limited to just 101 pieces, every Blacklamp Carbon is named after a different English lighthouse, making for the very epitome of cool, quirky, luxurious and British.
