The chance to win an Horage Lensman 2 – and support emerging photographers – for a £1 donation

Watchmaker and renowned photographer support emerging photographers with Centre of British Photography grants programme

One of the most innovative watch launches so far this year has been the Horage Lensman 2, with its ‘Exposure’ function aimed at simplifying the calculations for exposure of an image taken using a manual camera.

Proving that the complication is more than a gimmick, the Lensman has found a powerful supporter in renowned British photographer Brian Griffin, whose work has appeared in many leading publications as well as in the permanent collections of the V&A and the National Portrait Gallery.

Now, with a desire to ‘give back’, Horage has embarked on a project to support emerging and diverse photographers in their career growth through the inaugural Centre for British Photography grants programme.

Horage is asking people to contribute just £1 (or more for extra chances of success), which then enters them into a draw where they could be one of three lucky winners of an exclusive Horage prototype Lensman 2 watch, valued at between CHF5,900 (approx. £5,000) and CHF6,900 (approx. £6,000) each. There will also be a chance to win one of four signed Brian Griffin photographs, each valued at £2,000.

The first time the Centre of British Photography has launched such a scheme, after covering transaction fees, all proceeds will be dedicated to grants issued by the Centre, supporting aspiring photographers in their pursuit of creative careers.

The Centre, a registered charity (number 1190955), was established by James Hyman in 2020. In January 2023, it inaugurated a significant new public venue in the heart of London. The charity’s mission revolves around providing support to photographers active in the UK through various means, including exhibitions, events, grants, and mentorship. The primary objective is to facilitate exhibitions curated by both external curators and institutional partners.

In collaboration with Horage and Mr Griffin, the Centre For British Photography is set to enhance opportunities for the upcoming generation of British photographers by launching its first-ever grant program.

To enter, simply donate as little as £1, and every pound you contribute equals one entry into the draw. There’s no limit to the number of entries you can submit.
