WATCH FACES: Oris invites customers and press to the ultimate cricket experience at Lord’s

Oris became the first Official Timekeeper at Lord’s, the home of cricket, in the history of the world-famous club, which was founded more than 230 years ago.

Oris branding appears on scoreboards and digital billboards and also on the clock tower that sits on the Mound Stand under the iconic Father Time weather vane, which was first installed in 1926 and is now one of the most familiar landmarks in world cricket.

Hailing from Switzerland, Oris co-CEO Rolf Studer admits that he is not an aficionado of cricket, but is already hooked on its traditions and the joy it brings to players and spectators, particularly at Lord’s, home to the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club).

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with MCC, which shares Oris’s values of excellence, forward-thinking tradition and doing the right thing. The MCC has been at the heart of the movement to grow the great game of cricket in the UK and globally for more than 230 years. We’re excited to see the Oris name associated with MCC and Lord’s and look forward to timing cricketing history this summer and beyond,” he says.

Mr Studer co-hosted a gathering of Oris customers and press at a reception on the rooftop terrace of the iconic Lord’s pavilion earlier this month.

That followed day of actual cricket on the hallowed turf at Lord’s at which various sponsors for the ground fielded their own sides in a mini tournament.

Oris decided to create a team of watch journalists, including two members of the WATCHPRO staff, who brought more joy than skill to proceedings and failed to win a single game against considerably more experienced opposition from the world of prestige beverages, investment banking and real estate.
