Anordain model 2 3

Two year waiting list means patience will be required to buy larger anOrdain Model 2 field watches

anOrdain, a star among the independent watchmakers’ firmament, has expanded its popular Model 2 family with the option of a larger 39.5mm case size and a range of new colours for its signature hand-enamelled dials.

anOrdain, a star among the independent watchmakers’ firmament, has expanded its popular Model 2 family with the option of a larger 39.5mm case size and a range of new colours for its signature hand-enamelled dials.

The Scottish business, based in Glasgow, first launched the steel Model 2 field watch in 2019 in 36mm cases, closer to the size used for standard army issue watches in World War II.

It describes 39.5mm as medium-sized, but it brings a quite different character to the typically smaller field watch category.

anOrdain is particularly known for its vitreous enamel dials, and the latest models come in four colours: white, British racing green, grey and flax.

The new Model 2 watches are not limited, but production is expected to be no more than 200 per year because of the time it takes to make the hand-enamelled dials.

On average, anOrdain’s team of in-house enamellers produces less than 50 dials a month.

This perfectionism, coupled with strong demand, means there is currently a waiting list of over two years for for anOrdain’s watches.

However, there is a fair and  transparent way for customers to secure one of the watches.

Anybody is free to join a waiting list and they will be contacted once they reach the top of the queue.

Unlike waiting lists at authorised dealers for the likes of Rolex and Patek Philippe, the waiting list is managed on a first-come, first-served basis, so customers are certain to rise to the top of the list and get their watches with a little patience.

The 39.5mm Model 2 is slightly more expensive, at £1,800, than the 36mm piece, which is priced at £1,700. Both use Sellita SW-210-1 movements.
