Shinola joins centenary party for Lincoln automobiles

Founded in 1922, Lincoln is spending the year in celebratory mode, and fellow Detroit native Shinola is joining in with the party with two Lincoln-linked timepieces: the Shinola Runwell Sport Chronograph and Shinola Runwell Automatic – each made a limited run of 500.

The equivalent title to WATCHPRO in the car business will have been going ga-ga all year over the 100th anniversary of Detroit’s legendary automaker Lincoln.

The new watches build on a partnership that began last year when Shinola launched the Aviator Concept watch in collaboration with the carmaker.

Both the Runwell Sport Chronograph and Automatic have the Lincoln logo engraved on their case backs and the dial, and come a custom Lincoln 100 Years wooden Shinola watch box.

The 48mm steel Shinola Runwell Sport Chronograph, selling for $1,100, has a Lincoln branded subdial.

It has rose gold detail on the bezel as well as black and rose gold dial and hands; a look used in last year’s Lincoln collaboration Aviator Shinola Concept.

The Shinola Runwell Automatic, priced at $1,300, has the same design, but comes in a 39.5mm gender-neurtal case.

“Shinola and Lincoln both have a reputation for design excellence and a pursuit of craftmanship and quality. Our Runwell Chronograph and Runwell Automatic celebrate the Born in Detroit heritage both brands share, and the commitment to build products that last and are loved over a lifetime,” says Ruthie Underwood, vice president of creative design, Shinola. “We’re honored to partner with Lincoln on this project.”
