Phillips in Switzerland is following in the footsteps of its Hong Kong office with an online auction of prestigious timepieces curated by its Geneva team.
The Geneva Sessions, as Phillips has called the auction, has 50 watches, mostly pieces from 1990 to the present day from the likes of Patek Philippe, Rolex, Audemars Piguet and F.P. Journe.
Bidding is open from September 12 to 16.
Alexandre Ghotbi, Phillips head of watches, Continental Europe & Middle East, says the online auction will be done with a similar sense of theatre to its in-room sales.
“We wanted to have an online sale very different to what has been done before in terms of presentation of the watches with a very artistic approach to the photography and videography as well as the cataloguing,” he suggests.
Mr Ghotbi also aims to set a new quality bar for online auctions. “All of the watches have been carefully selected for their exceptional quality, condition and provenance. Every watch included has its full set of papers and box, and this sale has the highest average lot value that we have seen for a watches online sale,” he says.
