Pared-back Oris ProPilot puts focus on its Calibre 400 in house movement

Oris has chosen a gender-neutral 39mm case size for the titanium ProPilot, which is worn on an integrated bracelet made from the same tough and light metal.

There is something intentionally understated about Oris’s 2022 ProPilot x Calibre 400.

The simple three-hander with date is unpretentious as Swiss watches can be on the dial side.

It is as if Oris wants people to flip it over, where they will get as much joy studying the in house Calibre 400 movement as they will from telling the time from the matte dials in grey, blue or salmon.

Oris first unveiled its manufacture Calibre 400 movement in 2020, and it has since been used in Aquis dive watches.

The movement has a five day power reserve — 120 hours — thanks to a twin barrel architecture with extended mainsprings.

On the accuracy front, it is rated at -3/+5 seconds a day, which would pass COSC’s standard. This is, in part, achieved by using 30 non-ferrous and anti-magnetic components, including a silicon escape wheel and a silicon anchor.

Oris is so confident in its reliability, it has given the Calibre 400 a 10-year warranty and says it will only need to be serviced once every decade.

The Oris ProPilot x Calibre 400 is on sale in April for CHF 3,900.
