New German brand Rotor makes affordable watch push

A new German watch brand, Rotor, is making its debut in the watch market offering mechanical watches at a competitive price.

The brand’s watches are assembled in Germany using cases, dials, crowns and bracelets made in Germany, but fitted with Swiss mechanical movements.

Its founder Frank Schiffner began his career with a small mail-order timepiece business, before the decision was made to launch a brand following feedback from his customers.

He said: “Quality, excellent service, honest advice and customer service were, from the beginning, the foundation of our company.

“Numerous discussions with customers crystallized a need for technically superbly crafted watches at a reasonable price. And so was the next step – to launch Rotor. [I work] in close cooperation with established German watchmakers and bracelet manufacturers, to realize high quality standards.”

The collection includes three series – pilot’, diving and vintage-style watches – as well as a collection of watch straps.

The vintage range includes Bauhaus-inspired models, while the pilots’ watches include chronograph models and case designs featuring classic German milled bezels. RRPs are upwards of €319 (£262).
