Marathon Watch Company is ramping up its activity and publicity in the UK by securing Official Timekeeper status for this year’s Round the Island Race, Britain’s most popular sailing event which last year saw over 1,200 boats and 8,000 competitors racing around the Isle of Wight.
The race event, which takes place on June 25, is open to elite sailors and amateur enthusiasts, which gives it a carnival atmosphere.
It is an annual fixture that attracts television coverage from all the major news and sport networks.
Marathon Watch Company, a specialist in indestructible watches for the military and emergency services, entered the UK market last year with the appointment of HMS16 as its agent and a successful appearance at the 2021 WATCHPRO Salon.
Working with the Round the Island Race is part of a drive to position Marathon as a luxury tool watch brand in the active outdoor space.
