IWC Shaffhausen has been a long term supporter and partner of the Laureus World Sports Awards, and a Portofino Chronograph, released this week for the 2022 event, is the 16th special edition the watchmaker has made for the foundation behind it.

The Laureus World Sports Awards, held in Seville, Spain, is a global event honouring the greatest sportsmen, sportswomen and teams across all sports each year.

The organisation behind the awards, Laureus Sport for Good, was inspired by the words of its founding patron, Nelson Mandela, who said at the first ever Laureus Awards in 2000, “Sport has the power to change the world.”

IWC supports the work of the foundation with its special edition watches.
