A family business through and through, the 140-year-old Long’s Jewelers has reveled in an action-packed year.

At the helm of this impressive New England business are brothers Craig and Judd Rottenberg.

A major achievement for the Rottenbergs was the opening of a Rolex boutique in Boston in May last year.

Nestled between luxury stores Bulgari and Chanel on the city’s Newbury Street, the shop – which took three years to bring to fruition – is the Swiss watchmaker’s largest in the United States, spreading out across two floors and 3,500 square feet.

“Selling watches is not transactional, and it hasn’t been that way for a long time. It’s about connections, passion, and dreams for those who are searching for more than just a timepiece.”

For the brothers, such ambitious endeavors are all part of the adventure. The Rottenburgs enjoy a shared passion for keeping active and love of exploration, and say they approach the watch industry the same way as they approach fitness, viewing it as “a marathon, not a sprint”.

“I believe in relentlessly building and strengthening relationships in all areas of your business,” says Craig, who joined the family business 17 years ago after spending a few years working in tech and finance after graduating from college.

“Your relationships with your customers might drive revenue, but your relationships with your employees and your local communities are just as important for long-term, sustainable success.”

The next big move for Long’s Jewelers is to move their Boston store, currently in the city’s Longwood Galleria mall, into its very own free-standing 10,000 square foot store within the next 12 months. The brothers believe that such a move will offer a world-class shopping experience.
