George Daniels’ estate launches educational trust

By Craig Heatly

An initiative has been set up to benefit up-and-coming individuals in the watch and clock making industry in the name of the late George Daniels, who passed away in October of last year.

Daniels left a significant amount of money in his estate in order to set up an educational fund for employed and self-employed horologists who want to further their career in the UK.

The George Daniels Education trust will fund the initiative which will be available to residents of the United Kingdom and will encourage them to pursue and develop a career in the industry. It is hoped that it will help out apprentices and students who perhaps struggle to raise the finances for further training in horology.

A committee, named The George Daniels Educational Trust Advisory Committee, made up of members of The Worshipful Company of Clockmakers and the British Horological Institute will deal with the candidates and help administer the grants and bursaries.

For more information on eligibility and applications, individuals and horological teaching establishments should contact David Poole via clocks@davidpoole.co.uk
