Fears, a 172 year-old British watchmaker brought back to life in 2016, will open a pop store in London’s Piccadilly Arcade this week.
The business hit the buffers in the 1960s before being revived by Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, a fourth generation member of the original Fears family that founded the brand. It has since opened a permanent store in Canterbury.
Fears not only made watches for over 150 years, it also had its own stores, although the last known showroom was destroyed by a direct hit from a German bomber during the blitz in Bristol.
The Fears store in London’s prestigious St James’s district will open for six weeks.
It occupies an Edwardian boutique in the grade II listed Piccadilly Arcade and will carry the full collection of Brunswick and Redcliff watches.
It will also serve as a mini museum that will display a curated selection of watches and items from the Fears archive.
