The Dubai Watch Week team is keeping a close eye on regional developments, but the event will take place, as planned, from November 16 to 20 its organiser has confirmed this morning.

Dubai Watch Week is run by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, the largest watch retailer in the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East region.

With hundreds of watch executives and retailers flying into Dubai for the event, questions have been raised about hosting a celebration of horology at a time of heightened tensions between Israel, Palestine and other Arab nations.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the current events unfolding in the region,” a statement from DWW begins.

“With Dubai Watch Week still a few weeks away, we will continue to monitor the situation, and should there be any significant developments, we will provide guidance and updates accordingly. At this time, we are progressing well with the planning of the event and looking forward to welcoming the watch community to Dubai In November,” the statement adds.
