De Bethune has unveiled its DB16 Tourbillon Regulator, a timepiece said to interpret fine watchmaking with “a stunning ballet of horological complications”.
David Zanetta and Denis Flageollet are the brains behind this new timepiece, designed to surprise through both its technical achievements and subtle details.
The DB16 has taken the classic De Bethune case as a base, modelling it in the style of 18th century timepieces, but fitting it out with a tourbillon, moonphase and power reserve indicator.
It houses the brand’s DB2509 calibre, built around a 30” tourbillon in silicon and titanium, beating at 36,000 vph, comprising 64 parts weighing a total 0.18 grams.
The watch also boasts a jumping seconds mechanism composed of a twin lever with four pallets driving two gold wheels. The movement is also equipped with a power indicator, seconds indication and a retrograde moonphase indicator.
The dial has a silver-toned, sunburst guilloché motif, with the De Bethune star-studded sky in flame-blued steel encrusted with gold stars, featuring spherical moon-phase indicator in platinum and flame-blued steel at 12 o’clock and hands in curved, hand-polished and flame-blued steel, while the back shows off the artistry of the complication in true De Bethune style.
